INTRODUCTION - why this website is here

This website has been set up in the hope that potential customers will not buy cars from this dealer. It tells how CHRIS CHRISTOFOROU (who trades as "Excel", "Sandmoor Motors", "Clayton Car Sales" , "Birstall Guaranteed Finance Centre" or "Scooters Garage") sold a car in a dangerous condition, then IGNORED A COURT ORDER, and how JUSTICE was finally done.

The business has seen a few changes in ownership, between Chris Christoforou, his common-law wife, Eileen Hayes and his son. We are not quite sure who owns it now!

Now we have discovered that it's not only the name of the business that keeps changing - he appears to have changed his own name! He is advertising for staff at JobCentre Plus, but applicants are asked to contact CHRIS HAYES!

This outfit is situated on Leeds Road, Birstall, West Yorkshire, WF17 0EW, opposite the Coach & Six public house at the crossroads where the A62 and A643 meet. Their telephone number is 01924 420790 (or mobile 07966 208814), and the "boss" is CHRISTOPHER CHRISTOFOROU (or it may be his common-law wife, Eileen Hayes!) He employs a "salesman" called Simon.

They sold us a car with three major defects, one of which was potentially lethal. In spite of being covered by their "warranty", they did not repair the faults, although the car was delivered to them on four occasions. Then they told us it was repaired when, in fact, it had not been. When we mentioned the Trading Standards Department we were ordered off the premises.

It cost us almost £300 to have the car made safe. They refused to pay us. A successful action was made against them in the County Court but they ignored the Court Order to pay us. A Warrant of Execution was issued by the Court and the bailiff seized cars from the forecourt to sell at auction on our behalf, and for another lady who was sold a car in such a dangerous condition it had to be written off. The Trading Standards Service are also investigating and would "welcome any information provided by members of the public."
