I bought a 4x4 off this guy and the gearbox packed in after ONE WEEK, The car was returned to them on 27 December 2008. Since then we have had various tales why it ain't ready. The latest is "i am running it for the weekend to make sure it's OK, and you can pick it up on Monday 16th February."

We will see and I will let you know the outcome.

After another couple of weeks still no repairs done so, to my surprise, Chris offered me a full refund, by cheque. Payment has now cleared so apart from a few phone calls and running about to pick up loan car we are not really out of pocket. I think you have to know how to handle this guy.

Interesting. My car is with Cleckheaton Gearbox & Clutch Centre and Paul Frost is the mechanic who is putting to rights the work he didn't get right the first time, at a charge of £450 (cash) or £450 + VAT (credit / debit card) (isn't that against the law?) They have been claiming that there isn't anyone to deliver it back to (when they've answered the phone, that is), the MoT and tax are now due (overdue, in the case of the MoT). Have informed Trading Standards (no reply yet), next stop the tax people, then the Police. All I want is my car back so that I can get it 'legal'. I wonder if it's on the forecourt of Excel Car Sales??
